Thanks for shining a light into the otherwise dark year of 1986 and pointing out a safe path. My biggest problem with latter era shows is when Jerry just seems apathetic to what is going on with the music. Here he is engaged and active and that's making this a fun listen. Phil is also absolutely on fire.

This is in no way comparable to '68... only a handful of songs were played both year: Morning Dew and BIODTL off the top of my head. A good show from the Brent years is a good show from the Brent years and is only that relative to other shows from this period. Apart from that, it's all preference. I prefer GD and good GD is where it's at.

I tried it, I liked it.

Tinkly keys and all (okay maybe not the tinkly keys), but this wasn't bad.

This is the latest 80s show that I have enjoyed so I haven't completely given up on the Decade of Lost Years.

Many thanks for posting this RB.

I happened my way back into 86 this weekend , reminiscing about a lost weekend at the Greeks.

I have to say the Saturday show was one of my favorites actually. The band is strong tight and full of energy, its the infamous "Len Bias" show. I wish the message had gotten through to Jerry because the next day is one of the strangest and slowest shows I saw, until the Band put the stage back together to come back out for a one song second encore of 'Box o Rain". it seems now listening to it that Phil was apologizing for the WEAK effort that day.

Try the 8/21/ 86 for a strong 86 effort, http://www.archive.org/details/gd1986-06-21.sbd.miller.81518.flac16

Sorry Rich. No offense, but in spite of the very fine sound quality of that file, after trying (I did try), I cant bring myself to listen to that. I just cant get past how bad Jer sounds and Brents keys are making me nauseous.

Listening now to 1/20/68 in order to cleanse my palate...
